That the first race weekend would be tough we knew from winter testing. In both Malaysia and Qatar in testing I had struggled so much to adapt to the new bike. A more powerful but less rideable bike than the GP22. I narrowly miss direct access in Q1 and in Q2 I can’t do better than a P15. I know that starting so far down then it is really hard to climb back up. In the sprint I struggle but collect data for Sunday’s race. In the warm up we find a new solution that makes me ride very well, I am very happy. In the race, however, again I struggle so much. From the first few turns I couldn’t feel the front, I had to slow down on corner entry, and within a few laps I ran out of tire in the back. With 11 laps to go, so practically halfway through the race, I put Map C, which is the map with the least power. The feeling is that of being on a wild horse, a bit rough, but sooner or later we will be able to tame it. We are definitely not giving up, there is a lot of work to be done but we are looking forward to getting competitive again.
