Can one be lambasted after winning a POLE, a second place in the SPRINT and after being in front all the time? Yes, if you fall in the middle of the race the bitterness in your mouth remains, especially when you are there to play for the podium. Races are like that, I know very well that to drive at 100 percent you make mistakes.
Already in FP and qualifying I had crashes, even bad ones, especially the one on Friday where I rolled in the air and gave a big bump.
Saturday was a great day, with POLE in the wet and a nice second place in the SPRINT.
On Sunday the conditions are different, but in the warm up I immediately pick up a great pace and am confident for the race.
I start well, great tussle with the leading group, Pecco passes me and I try to take his wake. I don’t let it detach me, I try to attack it. At one point, as I entered the corner, I had a blockage in the front tire. I was in the slipstream so the bike did not stop; in fact, it picked up even more speed. At the second touch of the brake then, I lost the front end and could do nothing to prevent the fall. I’m going home to put this Sunday behind me and return to the track in Austria with the same pace seen here.
