The decision not to run the Sprint race on Sunday was definitely the right one because the weather conditions were really prohibitive. In my case in particular, Sunday’s would have been a sprint that would have put me in great difficulty, since with the cold and with those conditions not yet being at 100 percent physically would have penalized me a lot.
Saturday’s race was off to an uphill start since in Q2 I had not been able to get the dry lap pace I wanted. Paradoxically, in Indonesia, which is a more physical track and where I raced after 5 days since my collarbone surgery, I had struggled less since the bike was easy to ride. At Phillip Island I was having a much harder time keeping it
From P10 I lose a few positions and find myself in P13. I try not to lose the small group of those in front, and after a few laps I start to climb back up. Good tussle with all the drivers ahead of me, I climb up to P6, honestly the best I could do.
Still physically I am in pain, and I hope the heat of Thailand will anesthetize the pain a little and I can have a good weekend. I certainly want to get back to fighting with the frontrunners…. Gassss
